CELTA is the original “TEFL” course and provides initial training leading to the Cambridge English CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). It is intended for those without previous experience who wish to enter the profession and for teachers with no previous training in this field. CELTA enables you to obtain your first TEFL job. The course is highly regarded by employers around the world as proof of sound initial training and a strong basis from which to develop as a teacher of English.

Face to face CELTA Course

This is an intensive course so you can expect to receive 30 hours of training per week and spend an additional 15-25 hours studying in your own time. We have an experienced team of tutors to help ensure that your CELTA experience doesn’t disappoint you!

Fully Online CELTA Course

You will complete all of the components of the CELTA course: teaching practice and input sessions online via Zoom. Your interview will also be via Zoom, so you will get firsthand experience of using Zoom even before the course has started.

Why Should You Take the CELTA?

Course Info

The Cambridge CELTA requires an attendance of a minimum of 120 hours over 4/5/10 weeks.

These hours include:

  • Input
  • Tutorial support and consultation
  • Assisted lesson planning
  • Six hours’ assessed teaching practice
  • Peer observation
  • Six hours’ observation of live lessons taught by experienced EFL teachers and teacher training professionals
  • PLUS a minimum of 80 additional hours for reading, lesson planning, writing assignments, etc.

Applicants for the CELTA course should have a level of language awareness and competence in English, both written and spoken, that enables them to follow the course, complete the assignments and teach English to a range of levels.

They should normally have a standard of education that would allow them entry into Higher Education in their country.

 

Candidates must usually be 20 years old at the start of the CELTA course (although candidates from the age of 18 may be accepted at the centre’s discretion where it is confirmed that they have the potential to develop the necessary skills to become effective EFL teachers and that the course is suitable for them in terms of their background and their career plans).

Applicants for the course must complete

An Application Form and a Pre-interview Task and send it to Teachertraining@ihcairoeg.com

We will then set up an interview, preferably face-to-face. Alternatively, we can organize an interview via Zoom.

To ensure your place once you have been accepted, we recommend that the full fee is paid at least FOUR weeks before the course begins, especially if you want to take your CELTA course in the summer.

Once accepted onto the CELTA course, a 30% deposit is required to reserve your place, with the remaining fees due two weeks before the course start date. We offer various payment options for your convenience:

£900 GBP or $1150 USD (excluding Cambridge assessment fees)
Cambridge assessment fees: £155 GBP or $200 USD for face-to-face courses, and £250 GBP or $315 USD for online courses.
For Egyptian candidates, we offer a special rate of 35,000 Egyptian Pounds
(excluding standard Cambridge assessment fees),
Cambridge fees: £155 GBP or $200 USD for the face-to-face course and 250 pound GBP or $315 USD For the online course.

Payment methods include:

Cash payment at International House Cairo premises in Dokki
Credit or Debit Card (GBP, USD, and EGP) at International House Cairo online payment gateway.
Bank transfer or deposit (please provide a copy of the transfer document to Teachertraining@ihcairoeg.com; all transfer fees are the responsibility of the candidate)

In the case of cancellation four weeks or more before the course start date, 20% of our total fee will be retained. With less than two weeks’ notice, 50% of our total fee will be retained. If cancellation occurs in the final ten days before the start date our total fee will be retained.

However, in certain exceptional circumstances we will consider transferring the fees to another course.

In the event of a course being cancelled, all fees will be refunded.

NOTE Once the course has started, there is no possible refund. For this reason, you might consider taking out an insurance policy in order to be covered in case anything happens and you need to leave the course.

If the course is delayed or prevented by Force Majeure, then Reach Out Academy shall NOT be liable for a refund.
