About The Course

This 8-day course is aimed at people who are planning to take the CELTA who want to be prepared for the demands of the course. It is a practical course that focuses on helping future CELTA candidates to understand the subject areas covered on the course and helps them to be prepared. The course aims to provide candidates with useful lesson frameworks, practical techniques and activities to give them an idea of what to expect if they are accepted on to the CELTA course.

Course Content:

The CELTA Application Process: the interview and related tasks:

This helps course participants to understand how to apply for the course and the requirements they need to apply for the CELTA and be accepted. It also includes examples of interview questions they can expect to find during the application process.

Written Work: Assignments:

This session familiarizes course participants with the written work they will encounter during the course. This session will help participants to understand rubrics and organise their written work accordingly.

Presenting New language:

Here course participants get to understand how to present new language effectively and to help students understand, using a range of clarification techniques.

How to Teach Writing:

This looks at how to organise writing skills lessons and how to deliver effective writing skills lessons.

How to Teach Speaking:

This looks at a variety of tasks and how to categorize them in terms of whether they promote accuracy or fluency. It also familiarizes course participants with a framework to help them deliver effective speaking lessons.

How to Teach Receptive Skills (reading and listening):

This looks at how to use texts and how to plan and deliver effective receptive skills lessons.

Language Awareness and analysis:

This session revises and familiarizes course participants with the aspects of language they need to examine when planning language systems lessons (grammar, lexis, phonology and functional language). They will also help course participants understand and analyze language for teaching purposes.

Written Work: Lesson Planning:

This is part of the written work course participants will need to do during the course. Participants will be introduced to the basic components of a lesson plan and how to write one.

Classroom Management:

This will look at how to establish a successful learning environment for learners and how to provide a balanced and interactive classroom.

Who Should Take This Course?

Course Info

All applicants should have a level of English equivalent to B2 or above.
Have a reasonable language awareness with a high level of English, especially in writing and speaking skills.
Have a standard of education that would allow them entry to Higher Education in their country.

Applicants for the CELTA course should have language awareness and competence in English, both written and spoken, that enables them to follow the course and complete the assignments and teach English at a range of levels.

They should normally have a standard of education that would allow them entry to Higher Education in their country.

 

Candidates must usually be 20 years old at the start of the CELTA course (although candidates from the age of 18 may be accepted at the centre’s discretion where it is confirmed that they have the potential to develop the necessary skills to become effective EFL teachers and that the course is suitable for them in terms of their background and their career plans).

Interested applicants should fill in a form on our website. They will then be contacted for an interview (online or face to face) where there will be a timed writing task and an evaluation.

If you make your payment via bank transfer, or bank deposit, Please send us a copy of the transfer to Teachertraining@ihcairoeg.comAll transfer fees incurred are the responsibility of the candidate.

In the case of cancellation four weeks or more before the course starting date, 20% of our total fee will be retained. With less than two weeks’ notice, 50% of our total fee will be retained. If cancellation occurs in the final ten days before the starting date our total fee will be retained.

However, in certain exceptional circumstances we will consider transferring the fees to another course.

In the event of a course being cancelled all fees will be refunded.

NOTE Once the course has started, there is no possible refund. For this reason, you might consider taking out an insurance policy in order to be covered in case anything happen and you needed to leave the course.

If the course is delayed or prevented by Force Majeure, then Reach Out Academy shall NOT be liable for a refund.
