The CELTA course mandates 120 hours over 4/5/10 weeks
These hours include:
- Input
- Tutorial support and consultation
- Assisted lesson planning
- 6 hours of assessed teaching practice
- Peer observation
- 6 hours of live lesson observation taught by experienced EFL teachers and teacher training professionals
- PLUS a minimum of 80 additional hours for reading, lesson planning, writing assignments, etc.
Applicants for the CELTA course should
- Have a level of language awareness and competence in English, both written and spoken, to follow the course, complete assignments, and teach English at various levels.
- They should typically have an educational background that qualifies them for Higher Education in their country.
- Candidates are generally required to be at least 20 years old at the course’s start. However, those aged 18 may be accepted at the centre’s discretion, provided they demonstrate the potential to develop the necessary skills to become effective EFL teachers and that the course aligns with their background and career plans.
Applicants for the course must complete
An Application Form and a Pre-interview Task and send it to Teachertraining@ihcairoeg.com
We will then arrange an interview, ideally face-to-face. Alternatively, we can conduct the interview via Zoom.
To secure your place after acceptance, we recommend paying the full fee at least FOUR weeks before the course begins, especially for summer courses.
Upon acceptance to the CELTA course, a 30% deposit is required to reserve your place, with the remaining fees due two weeks before the course begins. We provide flexible payment options for your convenience:
£900 GBP or $1150 USD (excluding Cambridge assessment fees)
For Egyptian candidates, we offer a special rate of
45,000 Egyptian Pounds (excluding standard Cambridge assessment fees).
Cambridge fees: £155 GBP or $200 USD for the face-to-face course and 250 pound GBP or $315 USD For the online course.
With installment payment options available for the Egyptian amount through one of our partners like Valu.

Payment methods include:
- Cash payment at International House Cairo premises in Dokki
- Credit or Debit Card (GBP, USD, and EGP) at International House Cairo online payment gateway.
- Bank transfer or deposit (please provide a copy of the transfer document to Teachertraining@ihcairoeg.com)
- all transfer fees are the responsibility of the candidate
In the case of cancellation:
- Four weeks or more before the course start date:
20% of the course fee is retained and 80% is refunded.
- Less than two weeks’ notice:
50% of the course fee is retained and 50% is refunded.
- Within the final ten days before the start date:
Total course fee is retained.
Exceptions may allow fees to be transferred to another course.
If the course is cancelled, all fees will be refunded.
Note: Once the course begins, no refunds are possible. Consider taking out an insurance policy for unexpected circumstances.
If the course is delayed or prevented by force majeure, then Reach Out Academy and IH Cairo shall NOT be liable for a refund
